ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Milton Bass authored thirteen previous novels, including “Jory,” which was made into a movie starring Robby Benson, and “The Broken-Hearted Detective,” which was nominated for an Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America. A decorated World War ll veteran who earned a Silver Star for “gallantry in action,” Bass later became a newspaper columnist, editor and critic during a 60-year career at The Berkshire Eagle. He and his wife, Ruthie, also a journalist and author, raised three kids and several Shelties in the hills of Western Massachusetts, where Ruthie still tends beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.
